As part of our celebration of Earth Month, the Office of Sustainability hosted its Earth Day Festival, and it was a major success! We want to thank the more than 500 people who joined us for a day dedicated to celebrating our planet and the many ways our campus community is working toward a more sustainable future. The energy and turnout made it one of our most memorable events yet.
The festival offered attendees a range of hands-on ways to connect with sustainability at UC Merced. The UC Merced Smart Farm opened its doors for a tour of their facility, giving visitors an up-close look at how innovative, technology-driven agriculture is shaping the future of food production in the Central Valley. Our farmers market brought the community together over fresh, complimentary produce, highlighting the value of local food systems and healthy, accessible nutrition. The day's impact reached well beyond campus, too, earning a news story from ABC30 Fresno that shared our celebration with the wider Valley community.
Events like this reflect what makes sustainability at UC Merced so meaningful: a campus community that shows up, engages, and cares about the future of our planet. We hope to see you at our next event, and we urge you all to continue practicing sustainability throughout the year. Every choice makes a difference, and together we can keep building a more sustainable future for UC Merced and beyond.
