UC Merced's Inaugural Climate Action Town Hall

As part of our ongoing commitment to building a more sustainable campus, the Office of Sustainability hosted its first-ever Climate Action Town Hall! We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed, as the event brought together members of the UC Merced community for an afternoon of collaboration and forward thinking. Through collaborative engagement, we worked together to shape the future of climate action on our campus.
Throughout the Town Hall, attendees heard from a range of voices leading sustainability efforts at UC Merced. Andrew Boyd, Associate Vice Chancellor for Physical Operations, Planning and Development (POPD), shared his perspective on advancing sustainability across campus operations, and several of our own Bonnie Reiss Fellows presented their work, offering a look at the ideas and energy students are bringing to the effort. Together, these presentations sparked meaningful conversation and generated a wealth of ideas for the path ahead.
The community's input from the Town Hall will directly inform UC Merced's Climate Action Plan, the roadmap guiding our approach to equitable sustainability through 2035. As the plan continues to take shape, the ideas and priorities voiced at this event will help ensure it reflects the vision of the entire campus community.
We look forward to seeing these proposed ideas move from conversation to implementation in the near future. The Office of Sustainability thanks everyone who joined us in taking this meaningful step toward a better, more sustainable future at UC Merced.
